Children's education

Ave Maria,

To all parents of the forum,

We have three little children from7 months old to 4 years old. We are seeing how important it is to learn the art of education and how we had no idea it was something to be learnt!

We do not have TV, do not let them watch screens or listen to music that's not innocent, I also check the books and toys ( I recently bought a book on cathedrals for children thinking it was inoffensive and they were promoting the cathare heresy inside, criticizing the clergy I couldn't believe it!). St John Bosco said one bad book can destroy an entire convent of nuns...

Do you have any talks/books recommendations/tips on what else to do without being too much?

Unfortunately I think in our times we have to be too much in the eyes of others! We talked about the smartphone in the last third order meeting and my question is: how to deal with family or friends who come into our home and check their phones all the time and want to show to our children what they look at? I am thinking of asking people to put their smartphones in a box when they enter and putting a big "no smartphone" sign.

We are homeschooling our children but here in Spain it is really rare. The public schools and even catholic schools are making children watch cartoons everyday, giving them snacks several times a day. The sexual ed classes start at a very early age... All the people we know are so concerned about socializing that they think the dangers are not as bad and that the children have to know the world otherwise they won't be able to function in it. To me this all sounds insane...

For the homeschoolers: any recommendations on good authentic catholic programs?

A long post but I feel like being authentic homemakers and educators is of itself an apostolate in our times of widespread impurity!

Any advice, learnings are welcome, we pray for all the parents! May St Jospeh and our Blessed Mother help us keep the purity and innocence of the children!

Thank you very much and sorry for the late reply!

I will look into Rev. W. Cramer's book!
