THE CHALICE OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

Made in Rome by Pius IX in 1854 so that it could be used for the offering of the Holy Sacrifice on the day in which the dogma of the Immaculate Conception would be defined, it enchants the eye of the beholder with the splendor of almost 700 diamonds which adorn it.
These precious stones, a detail that not everyone knows, were donated to Pope Mastai(Pope Pius IX), for his coronation (1846) by an Arab sultan and studded the trappings of a horse. In fact, until recently, it was customary to give animals of a certain value to the Supreme Pontiffs (see the elephant of Leo X or the lions of Saint Pius X ).
At the death of the steed it was therefore decided to reuse those gems of immense value and therefore they were devoted to the greater glory of divine worship and to the honor of the Mother of God conceived without original sin, who deserves the praise of all creatures, faithful and unfaithful , for giving the world the Savior Jesus Christ.
