Ave Maria! Hello everyone. I apologize for having been remiss in posting an introduction. My name is Amy and I live in southwest Louisiana. I arrived among the Franciscans in a slow, circuitous way. I grew up in a Protestant non-denominational home in southwest Louisiana and moved to Alaska immediately after college. I met my husband there and aside from a short time out of state lived there until recently. I had always been drawn to the Catholic Church but was prevented by my family growing up. Finally at the age of 40, I was received into the Catholic Church in 2010 while were in Bloomington, Indiana. After returning to Alaska, I began to explore the teachings of the Church beyond what was included in RCIA and was able to travel to a traditional Mass once monthly in Anchorage. I have been drawn to third orders since then, as a penitential and deeper commitment to Christ and prayed to know where I am lead. The saints that have followed St. Francis inspire me. In 2018 I became chronically ill in a matter of weeks. My husband already had health problems, which left us to leave Alaska and move to where I grew up in Louisiana. It is a trying transition being among non-Catholic family again but I am very blessed to be in a new ICKSP parish in Sulphur, Louisiana in the Lake Charles diocese with Canon Moreau. Bishop Athanasius Schneider was here to speak just last weekend. God bless.
